Pressure Panic!

PRESSURE PANIC! was created for the second Oink Jam. There were two themes for this jam, and I picked the theme of "Under Pressure". This game surrounds a simple loop where you must collect pearls, collect powerful upgrades, and find secrets before your oxygen runs out!

The game uses:
- WASD or Arrow Keys for movement
- Left Shift for dashing (when unlocked)
- Left Click for firing cannon balls (when unlocked)

All art assets, code, and design was done by me, KingToot

A really cool take on an incremental game. Iāve played quite a few of them, and in my opinion many eventually lean too much into being idle games where the player barely has to do anything anymore. Thatās not the case here. I also really liked how the game gradually opens up over time, with new features that first have to be discovered — very nice design choice.
Iād give the player a bit more time at the beginning though. The first few 3-second loops felt pretty confusing to me. Even with upgrades, the submarine turns a bit too slowly, and itās frustrating that you can only rotate while moving. Because of that, it sometimes feels more like a parking simulator than controlling a submarine.
Cute art style and very cool <3
Thanks for the nice words and feedback! I can definitely see how the first few runs could be confusing. I think i just got used to it through the countless runs I did while testing. I did try to have turning allowed while not moving, but it felt a little slippery so I tied it to movement speed (which also makes dashing feel better). If I do more work on this, ill probably add a minimum turn speed.
Thanks again!
Hi, i really liked your game! I love the art and game idea. I was struggling a bit with the controls. I tried to control the sub based on the world, not the submarine (like pressing S to move the sub down). But that could just be me :) Other than that, great game!
Thanks! Yeah, I remember my first time playing a game with ātank controlsā was a bit confusing, but Iāve grown to like how it works. If I expand this game in the future, Iād love to add a deeper tutorial to make sure learning the controls is easier!
Thanks for the feedback!
